Fujifilm Europe has raised its ink prices in response to increases in the cost of raw materials used to manufacture them, it states. The new charges will affect the company's Uvivid and Sericol ranges in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and will be put in place from September 1st 2011.

The company, whose offerings for the wide-format market include the Acuity Advance series of printers, as well as the Uvijet UV-curing inks that make use of Sericol's Micro-V technology, adds that price increases will vary from country to country.

The company says that, in general terms, pricing will rise within published thresholds. UV screen and flexo inks will cost between three and eight percent more, and solvent screen inks will go up by five to 15 percent. Emulsions and chemicals are set for a hike of between eight and 15 percent.

Fujifilm Europe notes that some 65 to 70 percent of the expense of manufacturing ink is dictated by raw materials supplied by third parties and adds that the level of volatility in these markets is the most significant in the last 30 years.
