Mimaki wide-format double cut and print investment boosts Minprint's capabilities

Belfast-based commercial printer Minprint has purchased a new Mimaki JV33 wide-format printer, using new SS21 ink, and a CG-FXII cutting plotter. The investment will increase Minprint's speed and capacity for display production projects, according to Hybrid, exclusive UK and Ireland distributor for Mimaki.

The two machines have allowed Minprint to expand its production of large-format banners, posters, point-of-sale material, canvas prints, exhibition and vehicle graphics, stickers, decals and promotional products.

"We're delighted that the quality of the output using the new SS21 ink allows us to offer a superior product, even at higher run speeds with fewer passes," says Minprint director, Jamie McMinnis.

While integrated print-and-cut technologies weigh less heavily on the environment and require less operational manpower, according to Hybrid, Minprint chose the separate printer and plotter set-up for the speed and volume of photo-quality products at widths of up to 1.6m.

Another reason for its decision to invest in Mimaki equipment was the convenience and proximity of authorised reseller and support service provider Dennis D Evans, states Minprint.

"The installation and training of the new system went extremely smoothly and [...] was pivotal in our choice of supplier," adds McMinnis.
