'Ink-jet is the future' for Henry Ling with Canon digital colour investment
Jun 03 2014 14:46:23 , 1191

Henry Ling has revealed how its latest investments in Canon technologies have allowed it to increase its colour production capacity.

The company opted for the Océ ColorStream3700 continuous feed printer and, as a part of its wider investment plan, the Océ VarioPrint 6250 to manage short-run production of books and journals.

"We have a policy of continual investment in technology to ensure we remain at the forefront of the publishing industry and are able to meet emerging market requirements," says Helen Kennett, managing director of Henry Ling. "We feel that ink-jet is the technology of the future and, as such, looked to replace our existing toner platform and invest in one that would allow us to integrate colour into primarily mono titles and simultaneously increase production capacity. We just needed to wait for the quality of output to be at an acceptable level."

Work produced by Henry Ling includes products for global commercial journal publishers, learned societies and institutes and some of the UK's largest book publishers.

Craig Nethercott, commercial print group director, Canon UK, adds: "With run lengths reducing and the increasing popularity of zero-stock warehousing and print-on-demand, ink-jet is able to offer a future safeguard to companies like Henry Ling to meet quick turnarounds and ensure product quality."
