The bigger the better: blowUp Media to takeover third largest London DOOH site


BlowUp Media is set to claim the third-largest DOOH screen in London with the installation of its M4 Outbound site. The 490sq m display targets traffic heading in the direction of Heathrow airport, with an estimated 2.7 million likely to pass the site each week.


Middle East ambitions for Scala at Gitex


Scala has announced that its vice-president for EMEA, Damon Crowhurst, will attend Gitex in Dubai this month, as the company looks to build its presence in the Middle East. Crowhurst aims to explore the possibilities of forming strategic partnerships in the region, as well as scouting for opportunities to establish a local presence.

Green storage solution for Brazilian school thanks to Artwork Digital


Brazilian print house Artwork Digital has provided an eco-friendly, mobile storage solution for the Bau Econhecimento School with the creation of recyclable printed boxes using 100 percent recycled substrates. The 16mm re-board containers, which were printed on using an Inca Onset S20 flat-bed, will be used in the school's ecology and environment lessons.


HP adds flexibility and enhanced coating to canvas substrates


HP has upgraded two of its matte canvas products for its aqueous printers. Both the Professional Matte canvas and Artist Matte canvas boast increased flexibility and improved coating for higher-quality reproduction, deeper blacks and an increased colour gamut.


Premier Paper marks Bury St Edmunds anniversary


Premier Paper has held a customer event at its Bury St Edmunds branch to mark two years of operations at the site. The event saw 16 suppliers – including Sappi, Lecta and Stora – while visitors were able to find out more about the paper merchant's carbon capture scheme.

Kickstarter campaign looks to popularise modular 3D printer


Makermex has put its modular 3D printer – the MM1 – on Kickstarter, as the Mexican manufacturer looks to develop the desk-top fabrication system. The machine is designed to be versatile, with a series of optional parts – including a paste extruder, dual- or mono-extruder print-heads, and an auto-bed levelling module – that can easily be switched in or out to fit several diverse tasks.


EMERGING TECHNOLOGY


First performance for Holo-Gauze 3D technology


3D holographic display technology Holo-Gauze has made its stage début as part of the limited run of Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games, at the London Palladium. Consisting of a metallic high-transparency gauze and designed to be used with 3D polarised projectors, the system is being used to provide holographic effects throughout the performance, including enabling a triptych 'dance battle' featuring dancer Michael Flatley.
