Denver’s Sign Language XL Boosts Capacity with EFI Printer
Apr 18 2016 09:23:46 , 1182

Denver-based Sign Language XL, a digital print shop that serves customers all across the U.S. as well as abroad, announces the addition of two new EFIVUTEk GS3LX Pro hybrid roll/flatbed LED inkjet printers and an EFI Matan 8QW roll-to-roll UV inkjet printer. These new machines join a fleet of other EFI VUTEk production inkjet printers, as well as equipment from other manufacturers.

Sign Language XL executives say they chose the new EFI VUTEk LED printers for added capacity and redundancy. The company’s new EFI Matan 8QW, a 5-meter, UV inkjet printer, includes in-line slitting and cutting options for significant increases in efficiency and productivity. As a result, Sign Language XL will gain nearly twice the throughput of the roll-to-roll printer the new EFI Matan product is replacing.

“We serve a wide array of clients and market spaces, including out-of-home, venues and events, and point-of-purchase signage,” says Scott Cohen, president of Sign Language XL’s retail division. “The VUTEk GS3LX Pro and Matan 8QW printers will enable us to fulfill current demand, and provide added capacity as we grow. “The GS3 printers’ throughput speeds of 40-60 boards per hour at very good quality enable us to meet the increasing demands of our diverse client base. And the 5m Matan printer’s speed and quality made the decision very easy.”

Features of the company’s new VUTEk printers include high-end grayscale imaging in resolutions up to 1,000 dpi; eight-color printing plus white, with multilayer print technology for top-quality backlits and other display signage applications; and energy-saving, “cool cure” LED technology that reduces energy costs and provides compatibility with a wider range of substrates.

Sign Language XL’s other new printer, the EFI Matan, is one of the first models installed in the U.S. following EFI’s acquisition last year of Matan Digital Printers.

Sign Language XL offers resources to provide outdoor advertising, sponsor activation, retail and event graphics, artwork and design capabilities and installation services. Its products have included billboards, wallscapes, taxi toppers, vehicle wraps, banners, specialty POP and POS signage and displays for venues, concerts, stadiums, museums, music festivals and more. The company has served as the official printing partner for STAPLES Center,L.A. LIVE and the StubHub Center in Los Angeles; and the Pepsi Center, Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, First Bank Centerand Infinity Park in Denver for several years and has created several key installations for these venues.

Sign Language XL has used EFI technologies for the past nine years. The company also runs an EFI Productivity Suite workflow system and its printers all run using EFI's Fiery digital front end software for inkjet graphics production.

Aside from its EFI VUTEk printers and software, Sign Language XL also operates HP digital printers and MGE and Zünd cutters, among its other equipment.
