Roland DG UV Printing Bootcamp Reveals Versatility of VersaUV
Aug 12 2019 11:59:25 , 1697

Clevedon, UK – Roland DG has wrapped up another interactive customer event at its inspirational Creative Centre in Clevedon, with the UV Printing Bootcamp uncovering yet more exciting applications for Roland VersaUV LEF technology.

The one-day bootcamp on 18th July brought together print professionals who were already familiar with VersaUV LEF, having downloaded Roland’s Digital Benchtop UV Printing guide or received free samples from Roland, or were existing users looking to know more.

Roland's VersaUV LEF-12i, LEF2-200 and LEF-300 benchtop UV printers are designed to add colour, special effects and textures to practically anything, even flexible materials or  oddly-shaped objects. The event gave guests the chance to challenge this outstanding versatility with their own choice of unusual item or material – amassing plenty of application ideas in the process.

The sessions were hosted by Joe Wigzell, Academy and Creative Centre Manager at Roland DG (UK) Ltd, who explains: "Our summer bootcamp really demonstrated the breadth of potential markets and applications for VersaUV LEF users. One of our bootcamp visitors uses a VersaUV LEF-200 to mainly print valve labels but has been diversifying into gift items such as candles, while another was considering upgrading to the VersaUV LEF-300 – the largest in the LEF series – to expand her production of decorated notebooks, pens and other stationery.

"One attendee is looking at investing in an LEF to bring customisation of phone cases in-house, another is working on a business plan to print craft items, and another wants to build on an idea to print on computer parts for his IT business. It was a really thought-provoking event for everyone."

The UV Printing Bootcamp also provided an opportunity for the Roland team to experiment: one attendee has plans to add printed take-away food containers and cutlery to his business, so Joe ran tests on eco-friendly food cartons.

These are just some of the compatible applications; many more are explored in Roland's Digital Benchtop UV Printing guide, available to download now. In addition, Joe Wigzell hosts regular webinars that explore the full gamut of VersaUV systems and their applications. Personalised demonstrations can also be booked at the colourful Creative Centre.
